DriveAway is a transport service where a company contracts with an independent, experienced driver to drive their customer's vehicle from point A to point B. The driver does not haul or pull the customer's vehicles. Rather, they drive the customer's trucks to their final destination. The driver must get themselves to and from pick up and drop off location and complete all paperwork for transport as well as following all DOT compliance guidelines.

There are several DriveAway divisions at Team DriveAway. Your credentials and experience would determine which division or divisions you can drive for.

We contract drivers who have many different types of licenses: Class C or NON CDL, Class A CDL, Class B CDL, and Class A CDL with endorsements.

A NON CDL Driver is a driver with a Class C, or regular driver’s license. A NON CDL driver must have at least 1 full year of verifiable OTR (over the road) driving experience within the last 3 years, and can operate a motor vehicle safely as well as follow all DOT log rules and regulations including completing a daily DOT Driver Log.

A Singles Driver is a driver with a Class A or Class B CDL who has at least 1 full year of verifiable OTR (over the road) driving experience within the last 3 years and can operate a CMV safely. They must also follow all DOT log rules and regulations including completing a daily DOT Driver Log. If they can operate manual transmission CMV units, a larger load board will be available.

A Boom Driver is a driver with a Class A CDL with at least 1 full year of verifiable OTR (over the road) driving experience & 1 full year of verifiable Boom driving experience within the last 3 years. They must also operate a CMV safely as well as follow all DOT log rules and regulations including completing a daily DOT Driver Log.  Boom drivers must have their own Boom trailer to use for their Boom loads and must provide a copy of their valid insurance documents that cover their personal tow vehicle that is required. If they can operate manual transmission CMV units, a larger load board will be available.

No. Drivers must come with their own BOOM TRAILER. A Boom trailer allows the driver to transport customer's trucks 2 at a time without piggy backing them on top of one another. The trailer will allow the driver to transport 2 trucks at the same time while facing backwards to each other.

A New Deck Driver is a driver with a Class A CDL with a Double/Triple Endorsement, who has at least 2 full years of verifiable OTR (over the road) driving experience and at least 1 full year of verifiable un-decking experience within the last 3 years. They must also operate a CMV safely as well as follow all DOT log rules and regulations including completing a daily DOT Driver Log. New Deck drivers are required to have their own tools to secure and un-deck their loads.

When a New Deck driver arrives at their pick-up location their trucks will be decked for them.  At the drop-off location, the driver must un-deck the trucks for the customer.

A New Deck driver may transport 2, 3 or 4 trucks at a time depending on the load they signed up for.

A Used Deck Driver is a driver with a Class A CDL with Double/Triple Endorsement, who has at least 2 full years of verifiable OTR (over the road) driving experience and at least 1 full year of verifiable un-decking and decking experience within the last 3 years. They must also operate a CMV safely as well as follow all DOT log rules and regulations including completing a daily DOT Driver Log. Used Deck drivers are required to have their own tools and equipment to secure, deck, and un-deck their loads.

When a Used Deck driver arrives at their pick-up location they must deck their trucks and then un-deck the trucks for the customer at the drop-off location.

A Used Deck driver may transport 2, 3 or 4 trucks at a time depending on the load they signed up for.

• All drivers must have a VALID Driver’s License or CDL that is within their state of residency.
• All drivers must provide us with a CLEAR copy of all of their documents, this includes:

1. Front & Back of Driver’s License (for NON CDL) or CDL
2. Current DOT Med Card
3. Social Security Card
4. Passport (optional)
5. TWIC Card (optional)
6. Personal Tow Vehicle Insurance (optional unless you are a Boom Driver)

• All drivers must have and maintain a relatively CLEAN PSP, CSA, MVR, VOE and Background reports.
• All drivers are required to complete and maintain daily DOT Driver Logs from the date they sign our contract to the date their contract has been terminated. While contracted with Team DriveAway, we prefer our driver’s use the MOTIVE App to complete their daily DOT driver logs. Logs are considered part of the driver’s daily load paperwork and must be kept up-to-date and turned in for driver pay to process. Failure to do this will cause a delay in getting paid in a timely manner.
• All drivers are required to have an escrow account while under contract with Team DriveAway.
• $1,500 for NON CDL and Singles drivers
• $2,500 For Boom, New Deck and Used Deck drivers
• All drivers are required to carry Occupational/Accidental Insurance Coverage while under contract with Team DriveAway.  Drivers may obtain this coverage through Team DriveAway or through an outside source. If the driver chooses to obtain the coverage through an outside company, the driver must provide our claims department with a copy of the Certificate of Proof of Coverage that names Team DriveAway as the covered or interested party. If obtained through Team DriveAway and contracted under NON CDL, Singles, or Boom divisions, the driver will be charged $12.00 per day while they are actively on a load for us, up to $204.00 each month. If the driver is contracted under New Deck or Used Deck driving divisions, the driver will be charged the full $204.00 each month.
• All drivers are automatically enrolled in the company Deductible Buy Back Plan while under contract with Team DriveAway. The plan is $82.00 per month.  This plan is extra insurance for the driver should they get into an accident or damage claim that they are being held responsible for or at fault.  If the driver is held responsible, under this plan, the driver will be charged for the first $500 worth of damages and the company will pay the rest of the bill. Drivers are required to stay under this plan at least until they have met and maintained their required escrow amount. Once the escrow amount has been maintained, the driver may then opt out of the Deductible Buy Back Plan. In order to opt out of this plan, the driver must send in writing to our claims department the reason they are choosing to opt out.  If the driver’s escrow ever falls under the required escrow amount, the driver will then be put back under this plan and will have to opt out again if they choose to do so.

Team DriveAway is non-force dispatch. However, we do require all drivers to transport 4-5 loads for us per month. If a driver goes 2 consecutive months without meeting this quota, their contract could be put up for cancellation.

Each day, Monday through Friday, a driver's dispatcher will email them the load board. All loads are first come first serve. It is then up to the driver to look over the load board and contact their dispatcher to get assigned to whatever load(s) they are interested in. The Driver must get themselves to and from drop off location on time once they are signed up for the load. Team DriveAway does not arrange or pay for any transportation to or from pick-up or drop off locations.

Load boards are updated several times throughout the day, or upon request by the driver.

The amount of money a driver makes in with Team DriveAway depends on the driving division, type of load, and number of loads a driver takes per week. Since all drivers are independent, it depends on how much that driver wants to run and what types of loads the driver wants to transport.

All drivers are responsible for their own transport to and from pick-up and drop-off location as well as food, lodging, and entertainment while on the road.

Depending on division a driver is contracted for, you may also be responsible for fuel for transport and must leave at least ¼ tank of fuel in truck at drop-off location. The only compensation for fuel during transport is the fuel surcharge fee that is added on to the driver's pay out for each load.

All Team DriveAway drivers are independent contract drivers or 1099 drivers, they are not employees. We do not offer any type of benefits or health insurance for any of our drivers. We do not take taxes out for our drivers. Drivers are all responsible for filing and paying their own taxes each year.

Driver's must have verifiable experience in order to drive for Team DriveAway in any of our driving divisions.

However, if a driver comes into our Singles Division and they have their CDL Class A with Doubles/Triples endorsement they are eligible for being trained for our DECK divisions after they have successfully run 3 – 6 months in our Singles division and are in good standing with the company.

No. If a driver comes on with Team DriveAway in one driving division and then later decides they would like to move into a different driving division they simply need to notify their dispatcher. Their dispatcher would then notify the Safety and Compliance department. This division would run new reports and check to see if the driver qualifies to move into a different driving division. If they do, the driver would be moved to this new driving division. If they do not, the driver would be notified they do not qualify to move to another division at that time.

• Yes! Team DriveAway offers several bonus programs for its drivers.
• - Driver Referral Bonus – When a driver refers another qualified driver to Team DriveAway and they are successfully brought on board the referring driver will earn bonus money when their referred driver meets certain criteria when transporting our loads.
• - Clean Inspection Bonus - When a driver obtains a CLEAN Inspection from a DOT officer and turns in the paperwork within 24 hours after the inspection the driver will receive a bonus.
• - Monthly Safety Bonus – When a driver runs a certain number of miles each month, remains violation and accident free and completes the assigned Safety video and quizzes each month, the driver can earn more money per mile. It is almost like giving themselves a raise!
